Sod Saga

We've made some progress on the new house. The landscape is in and so is the new front lawn. Here's the story on the lawn ...

Bern becomes friendly with the foreman that works for the landscape company that put in the plants/trees/shrubs etc. After a lengthy discussion, Bern negotiates with the "Guy" to lay the new sod in the front of the house. Bern is conviced that he has gotten a killer deal on the sod installation and is quite proud of himself.

The deal was that the Guy would bring a couple of worker-bees with him on Saturday morning, prepare the ground and lay the sod. All we had to do was the have the sod delivered and pay for their labor. This was good, because Steph and Jack were coming to visit this weekend and we planned to go to New Smyrna Beach for the day on Saturday.

Saturday comes and Guy has some sort of problem (not sure what, exactly) so he can't get there to install the sod until late in the afternooon. Then, shockingly, he called again to say that he couldn't do it until Sunday AM (another problem it seems). So ... on Sunday AM, Bern goes out to the house with Jack in tow to meet Guy. Guess what ... he actually showed up. Unfortunately, he didn't bring any worker-bees. So, Bern and Jack spent half a day on Sunday working with Guy to install the sod. Many thanks to Jack for lending a hand (and back) to help green up the new house.

I was really ticked off that my husband and my houseguest were up to their @$$e$ in muck, dirt, yuk, etc. because Guy is such an irresponsible loser. But I guess you really do get what you pay for. It could have been worse ... it could have been me laying sod (not likely, huh) instead of Bern and Jack. Anyway, the sod is in and it looks great. I will try to take some pix this afternoon and post them so that you can see.

We will likely move after Easter sometime. I'll keep you updated.
